Kilmarnock coach Kirk Broadfoot has backed on-loan midfielder Bailey Rice to become a valuable asset for Rangers next season. The 20-year-old joined Killie until the end of the campaign to regain match fitness after recent injuries.
Broadfoot, a former centre-half, said the midfielder has shown good ability and is now building momentum. "Bailey's a good lad," the coach said. "Yeah, there's no getting away from the fact that Bailey had good ability even before he came here. We all knew that."
He explained that the priority was getting Rice back up to speed, working with manager Derek McInnes and assistant Billy Dodds. The player has started the last two games and is now looking strong, though he is ineligible to face his parent club this weekend.
Kilmarnock, who sit 12th in the Premiership with five points from seven games, face Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday. Rice’s loan spell is focused entirely on his development before he returns to Glasgow in the summer.
