Aberdeen have been sanctioned by the SPFL for fan misconduct during their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final win at Kilmarnock's Rugby Park last month. The punishment includes a 500-ticket reduction for their upcoming semi-final against Rangers at Hampden Park on October 31.
The incidents occurred on September 12, when a large-scale organised pyrotechnics display took place before the match. After the 1-1 draw, which Aberdeen won 3-1 on penalties, a pitch incursion followed their victory. The SPFL confirmed the club must also cover the cost of the reduced ticket allocation as part of the sanction.
Adrian Bevington, Aberdeen's chief executive, acknowledged the issue. "They are passionate supporters. Obviously, you have moments, like the one at Kilmarnock a few weeks ago." he said. Bevington added, "We have to deal with it and we will deal with it. It has been addressed internally."
For Kilmarnock, the focus returns to Premiership survival under manager Stephen Robinson. The team currently sits 12th in the table with just five points from their opening seven games.
